SIREE Project

Luton Primary school fosters a strong working relationship with members of the local community. In 2017, Luton Primary School collaborated with the Local Community Engagement Officer, Helen Morish and took part in the SIREE project (Social Integration of Refugees through Education and Self Employment) which was very successful in engaging a huge part of the community around the Luton area. The project was aimed to bring local communities together and tackle social issues that local communities face as a result of an influx of newcomers to the area. Through the project, cultural events were organised at Luton Primary School.  The school organised a Bollywood Dance event inviting parents and people in the local community to join in. It aimed to inform, improve and develop relationships between Migrant and English communities.  The event was such a success bringing our diverse community together.  Everyone fully embraced the Bollywood dance session; it was wonderful to watch the community having fun and celebrate together.
