Meet Our Governors

Liza Thompson- Chair of Governors

Hello, I am the current Chair of Luton's LAB. My background is in safeguarding, domestic abuse, and charity governance - and I started out 11 years ago as a parent governor at Woodlands Primary school, which is another school with the Rivermead Inclusive Trust.  I feel very lucky to be supporting the Luton Primary school community on the next stages of its journey, and I am happy to answer any questions you have about the Local Advisory Board - so please do email me if you would like a chat.

Luke Geary- Vice Chair of Governors

I am really pleased to be a governor at Luton Primary School. As a teacher I want to be involved in giving children the best education and opportunities available to them. I am keen to be involved in such a diverse school community with so much to offer both inside and outside the classroom. I look forward to seeing the great things going on in Luton and working to improve the school to ensure it is the best it can be!

Sabrina Owatemi- Parent Governor

Hi, I am Sabrina; I am a mother of three, two of whom attend the school. My eldest is the first child with Down syndrome to join Luton School, deepening my commitment to supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). I have experience navigating EHCPs, tribunals, and mediation to secure positive outcomes.

Professionally, I am a psychotherapist, counsellor, and supervisor with a background in Project Management. I now run a private practice and am an accredited BACP member. My husband is deeply rooted in the community, and together, we are passionate about cultivating inclusivity and collaboration within the school and beyond.

As a parent governor, I am committed to championing the voices of parents and children, ensuring their perspectives shape decisions that create a supportive and thriving school environment.

Jo Nixon- Staff Governor

My name is Jo Nixon and I've worked at Luton Primary for 8 years. As of September last year I took on the role of SEN Assistant, working alongside our SENCo Miss Davis. Prior to this I was a teaching assistant and Speech and Language TA for just over 20 years.

I've been a staff governor for the last 3 years at Luton, and for 12 years at my previous school. I really enjoy being a governor as I can contribute to the education of our children and assist Luton Primary in upholding its high standards. Helping make plans for the future of our school is important to me and aiding our children to achieve the education they deserve, enabling them to be confident and independent.

As a governor I can ensure that the parents, and children's, voices are heard. My daughter, who is currently in Year 10, attended here and loved every moment, Luton will always hold a special place in our hearts ❤️ (By the way, that's Stanley in the photo with me.....the world's cheekiest dog!)
